I didn't ... usually I record the Rangers game if I'm eating a late dinner, but not tonight. I tuned in late, when the Rangers were already ahead 8-1. I heard something in the broadcast

about someone getting hurt, but I wasn't paying close attention and didn't think much of it.
So, imagine my surprise when I was watching Baseball Tonight, and Karl Ravech tells me that a fan at the Rangers game fell from the second deck, trying to catch a foul ball. The reaction from the home plate umpire, the fans behind home plate, and the players on the field tell the story almost as good as if there had been video of the fall (and I think there probably is. After the game, team president Nolan Ryan said this:
"You are concerned for the individual this happened to, and the people that may have been hurt in the fall, and so I was very proud of the job our emergency people did, and they got right on it and stabilized him, took him to the emergency room. And the people that were below him, one little boy had a contusion to his face. A couple that he landed on, I went up and saw them and they were fine. And so I think we were very fortunate that it wasn't worse than it is."
So .... what's next? Do the Rangers change anything? Put up higher barriers in the upper decks? I mean, we've all thought something like this could happen (try to find me someone who's been to a game and hasn't thought about that possibility). The railings are short, and fans are way too enthusiastic about chasing foul balls. I certainly don't blame the Rangers, nor do I think they should change anything (what can they do? If they make the railings higher, the view for the fans will be obstructed). But a catastrophic event, happening in this you tube world that we live in, usually leads to over-reaction. Hopefully not in this case. And hopefully this fan turns out to be OK.

Lindsay Lohan Jail-Time Likely To Be Fraction Of Sentence

Despite Lindsay Lohan's emotional display upon hearing her sentence in court today, she might take some comfort in a report from the LA Times noting that in all likelihood, she will only serve a small fraction of the 90 days. From the Times:

Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said women sent to jail for nonviolent crimes generally serve 25% or less of their sentence due to overcrowding.
Whitmore said the exact time served can depend on the wording of the judge's order and the level of overcrowding in the jails.

Lindsay starred on the movie “I Know Who Killed Me” but since its production she faced a DUI conviction that required her to attend several sessions of alcohol education classes. Lindsay is just 24-years-old but apparently, she’s not concerned. She seems to be unconcerned on the situation and suggests that Judge Revel hates her guts.

In that bout, an inadvertent headbutt from Soszynski opened a cut on Bonnar's head that forced the doctor to halt the fight, giving Soszynski a technical knockout win. Bonnar appealed the decision, but his hope to have the fight ruled a no contest was denied. The decision was controversial enough that UFC president Dana White ordered up Saturday's rematch.
In the main event today, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, a former WWE star, returns for the first time in nearly a year to defend his title against interim champion Shane Carwin.
Lesnar last fought at UFC 100, beating Frank Mir. But diverticulitis, a severe intestinal ailment, has kept him sidelined since then. His comments on making his return were brief.

Michael Kirkham Dies Following Pro MMA Debut

MMA fighter Michael Kirkham was pronounced dead this morning after making his professional MMA debut on Saturday. Kirkham died of a brain hemorrhage. He was 3o years old.

Kirkham, ‘the tree,’ was hit many times in the head during his Saturday night professional MMA debut, and was eventually knocked unconscious. Kirkham was transported to Aiken Regional Medical Center, but never woke up.

“Obviously our thoughts and prayers are with his family, other than that I have no comment,” said Sam King, a promoter, told MMAFighting.com.

According to MMAfighting.com, Michael Kirkham is the second fighter to lose his life after sustaining injuries during a regulated MMA fight. Sam Vasquez died on Nov. 30, 20o7, after being in a coma for 42 days following an MMA fight.Much of the speculation over Monday's death of Michael Kirkham in South Carolina -- organized mixed martial arts' third casualty, and its second in the U.S. -- focuses on Kirkham's being too reedy and fragile for the lightweight division. At 6-foot-9 and 155 pounds, his physique must have been little more than bone. That's not much armor.

Kirkham's death, like those of fellow fighters Douglas Dedge and Sam Vasquez, is going to get the perfunctory eulogies from fans and media, but the reality is that people and their tragedies are often viewed as pawns to push or oppose agendas. Already, the "mainstream" outlets reporting are being tagged with comments that imagine Kirkham was mauled by tigers in a coliseum.

From Huffington Post readers: "I wish this would be banned. … In the cesspool that is MMA, egregious behavior is the whole point. … This "sport" is analogous to dogfighting and gladiatorial brutality reminiscent of the Roman Empire."

From a Fox Sports discussion: "This is not a sport. It's assault and battery."

From Vancouver Sun comments: "I would not watch this disgusting sport if you paid me."

This is what it always boils down to: a human being volleyed around for political discussion.

What Kirkham's death reveals is a considerable and continued revulsion of MMA, which remains the most superficially gruesome of any major sporting event. It's impossible for people to accept these deaths as tragedy when the norm is flowing blood, swelling and brain interruption. It would be easier for them to swallow two or three casualties in football or baseball for the simple reason that it doesn't look like those players are at lethal risk. When someone in this sport dies, it's the fulfillment of an expectation.

Michael Schwartz, M.D., the chairman of the American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians, believes that this anticipation is what continues to create problems for the sport.

"When people ask how I work in the sport as a physician, where the goal is to concuss the other person, I tell them to look at the outcomes, not the intent," he told me this past spring. "There are so many more injuries in football than there are in boxing and MMA, but because the 'intent' isn't to knock the guy out, football's OK. Well, when you look at the outcome, MMA is actually safer than auto racing, football or skydiving. The intent in those sports is not to die, but guess what? People do."

But perception smothers the reality: Three deaths in 17 years of frequent competition is hardly an outrageous mortality rate. How many fights have been contested in that time? Ten thousand? Thirty thousand? Fighters may be more likely to die in a car accident on the way to the arena.

Obviously, Kirkham's family couldn't care less about rationalizing his death; calling him statistically insignificant would be disgusting and callous. Instead of dismissing him as an anomaly, he should be a lesson that informs how we treat the thousands of athletes in the sport who need responsible supervision. Coaches might be quicker to stop athletes who have been KO'd in training from competing, even if it means lost income or opportunities. Athletic commissions might look at a fighter like Chuck Liddell -- who, in one of the saddest displays yet seen in the sport, argues that the UFC can still profit from his decline -- and tell him he no longer has the privilege to compete. Maybe referee Kim Winslow would have had second thoughts about allowing Jan Finney to continue after it was clear Cristiane Santos already had her head on her wall.

Michael Kirkham died early Monday following his professional MMA debut this past Saturday on a pro and amateur card in Aiken, S.C.

Kirkham, a lightweight nicknamed "Tree" for towering at 6-feet-9, was 30.
Kirkham competed on a Dash Entertainment and King MMA co-promoted "Confrontation at the Convocation Center" event at the USC Aiken Convocation Center, a card regulated by the South Carolina Athletic Commission.Obviously our thoughts and prayers are with his family, other than that I have no comment," Sam King, a promoter of Saturday's card, told MMAFighting.com.

WRDW in Augusta first reported that Kirkham was transported to Aiken Regional Medical Center from the venue following the fight and was pronounced dead of a brain hemorrhage Monday morning.
Coroner Tim Carlton confirmed to MMAFighting.com that Kirkham was unconscious from the finish of the fight all the way until this morning. An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday.
Kirkham, who according to his own Facebook page, held an amateur record of 3-3, was taken down early in the fight and lost by referee stoppage from ground and pound strikes. But when he did not regain consciousness, doctors and medics attended to him in the ring and stretchered him out.
Kirkham was the captain of his own "Fayetteville Independents" MMA team and according to his teammate John Yox's Facebook page, had "severe bleeding in the brain" and had been kept on life support.
The South Carolina Athletic Commission requires that all boxers and MMA fighters submit an original or certified lab report indicating that the competitor is HIV, Hepatitis B and C negative. Also, the fighter must complete an ophthalmologic (eye) exam as well as a physical by a doctor.
Kirkham becomes the second fighter to pass away due to causes from a regulated MMA fight in the US. The first known death in a regulated event was Sam Vasquez, who died on Nov. 30, 2007 from head injuries on a local card in Houston, Texas. Vazquez was in a coma for 42 days after the fight in October.

Sergio Vega Funeral Remembers El Shaka – Murder Unsolved

SONORA (LALATE) – Fans remembered Sergio Vega El Shaka during a funeral procession today. Headlines “Vega fue asesinado”, “El Shaka muere”, and “matan a Sergio” lined local papers as thousands turned out Sunday afternoon to honor a beloved talent.

At 3 pm PST Sunday, fans turned out as the murdered body of the cantante of musica grupera, Sergio Vega, “El Shaka”, was driven through the street of Esperanza, Sonora, Mexico. Sergio Vega was driven by a horse-drawn carriage for a public wake. The funeral processing was handled by Robles Funeral Company of Esperanza of the municipality of Obregon in Sonora.

Fans lined the street, many in tears, others shouting and clapping, and countless singing his beloved songs, reports local news. Vega was dressed in his favorite color, blue. He wore a blue suit, blue tie, and boots and was at peace in a wooden box.
Today’s public funeral procession will finish with a private ceremony for friends and family in native Horn, north of Obregon, confirms a family rep Sunday.
Just hours before his death, El Shaka had to inform website La Oreja Entertainment that rumors of his murder were false. Vega added that any such news of his death could be exceptionally harmful to his mother who suffers from a heart condition. Vega said this weekend: “That happened to me years ago, someone told a radio station or newspaper I have killed, or who had suffered an accident. And then I had to call my dear mother, who has heart problems, to reassure her”.
Local police have now deemed the Vega murder a gang directed attack. It follows over half a dozen other murders against cantantes in just the last 36 months. Fans of the regional Banda music, popular not just in area but also in Mexico and especially Los Angeles, have taken to Facebook and Twitter Sunday to denounce the violence.

Mr. Vega recently had increased his securoty following the murder of Sergio Gomez of Banda K-Paz de La Sierra in 2007. Gomez was abducted that year at a concert in Michoacan at which Vega also performed. Gomez would be found days later dead of strangulation.
Yet despite Vega’s indication he had increased security, LALATE confirmed earlier that Vega was murdered as the driver of his Sonora-registered Cadillac with only one other passenger on board. As indicated throughout Sunday on LALATE, reports have conflicted about the murder details. Some local news reports claimed 30 bullets were fired at Vega, while police have confirmed only 4 shell casing were found at Vegas’ drivers side. Some reports erroneously claim El Shaka was chased by attackers from another car.
Rather, Vega was murdered Saturday night at 9:30 PM PST while approaching an upcoming toll booth at San Miguel (La Caseta de San Miguel) on US Mexico Highway 15. Vega is believed to have died instantly, shots to both throat, head and eye. His Cadillac immediately went of the road crashing.

Daytime Emmys 2010: Agnes Nixon's Lifetime Achievement Award

Agnes Nixon was awarded the 2010 Daytime Emmys Lifetime Achievement Award. She is one of the creators of both "All My Children" and "One Life to Live" and has writing credits for (among others) "Loving," "As the World Turns," "Another World" and "Guiding Light."

Because of her pivotal role in so many daytime programs, she is generally considered the queen of modern soap operas. Furthermore, she is credited with many of the socially-conscious storylines of daytime TV -- AIDS, alcoholism, gay/lesbian issues, etc.

Another queen of daytime, Susan Lucci, was on-hand to give the award to Agnes. Both Lucci and Nixon were choked up and seemed genuinely appreciative to be where they were standing. Congratulations to

Agnes Nixon for her Lifetime Achievement Award on the year of "All My Children's" 40th anniversary. The results are in for what could possibly be the final Emmy Award show for Daytime TV. The highly anticipated event, broadcast live tonight from the Las Vegas Hilton and hosted by Regis Philbin, featured performances by Cirque du Soleil and The Jersey Boys, as well as tributes to Dick Clark and As the World Turns, which will ends its 50-year run in September. Producer and writer Agnes Nixon, who created One Life to Live and All My Children, was also honored with this year's Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award. But enough of the event fillers and on to what the show is really about.

As the World Turns has nabbed the major awards of the evening, including Outstanding Lead Actor for Michael Park (Jack Snyder), Outstanding Lead Actress for Maura West (Carly Tenney Snyder), and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Julie Pinson (Janet Ciccone). But perhaps the biggest surprise is The Bold and the Beautiful, which won the award for Outstanding Drama Series.

This really is quite unexpected considering ABC's General Hospital has taken the lead in the Emmy nods with 18 nominations, while CBS' The Young and the Restless has received 16 nods. Check out the of the winners (in bold) below:

Even though it has been a year since his death, the anniversary of that date just having passed on Friday, June 25th, the tributes to Michael Jackson continue to pour in. If you happened to tune in to watch the Daytime Emmys earlier tonight instead of the BET Awards, then you happened to miss the latest tribute to the memory of Michael Jackson.

This one was performed by Chris Brown, who we all know has had his own fair share of troubles in the past year and a half since his altercation with then girlfriend Rihanna. Earlier this month, he was prohibited from

entering Europe and was forced to cancel his tour of that area.

That was not the focus tonight though. The focus was on his tribute to entertainer Michael Jackson was. The performance opened with The Way You Make Me Feel, included Remember The Time, Billie Jean and ended with an emotional take on Man In The Mirror where we see Chris Brown break down. Alicia Keys, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj and current albums chart champ Drake were among the big winners at cable television network BET's annual salute to R&B and hip-hop stars, while Diddy, Kanye West, Eminem and El DeBarge wowed the audience with their performances.

Veteran funk-rocker Prince was given a lifetime achievement award at the show, which was hosted by comedian, actress and rapper Queen Latifah.

Prince watched in the audience as Stevie Wonder paid tribute in a video, and onstage Janelle Monae gave an energetic rendition of his "Let's Go Crazy" while disco diva Patti Labelle pumped out a rousing "Purple Rain."
Wearing white trousers and turtleneck, Prince took the stage, thanked the crowd and said, "I do believe the future is in good hands, I've seen so much talent here tonight.
"I was pretty wild in my younger days and you don't have to do what I do," he said, with a smile. "You don't have to make any of the mistakes that I made. The future is in your hands."
The night's top honor, BET's viewers choice award, went to Rihanna and Young Jeezy for their song, "Hard."
Keys, who also performed a Prince song, took home two trophies for R&B female singer and best collaboration for smash hit, "Empire State of Mind," sung with Jay-Z.
Trey Songz, whose hits include "Can't Help but Wait," was named best R&B male singer. "I want to let you all know that anybody can be anything, all it takes is dedication and a lot of hard work," Songz said.
Canadian rapper Drake was named best male hip-hop artist, and Minaj took home the trophy for best female hip-hop singer. Beyonce and Lady Gaga earned video of the year honors for their collaboration "Video Phone," but were not on hand to accept their trophy.

Brown's medley of Michael Jackson songs stood out from the pack, as much for the emotion as for his energetic dancing to tunes such as "Billie Jean."
Brown, who in 2009 was arrested and pleaded guilty to assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, fought back tears as he struggled to sing Jackson's gospel-inspired song about self-redemption "Man in the Mirror." After it was over, he left the stage at the Shrine Auditorium and hugged Jackson's brother Jermaine, who had introduced him.
Later in the show, Brown was given an "AOL Fan-demonium" trophy and he told the audience, "I let y'all down before, but I won't do it again. I promise"
Two days after the one-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death, Jermaine Jackson took the stage for the tribute to his brother and said, "everyone worldwide for the love shown us (his family) over the last year."
He then quoted what his siste, Janet Jackson, had said at last year's BET Awards: "Michael's a legend to you, but to me, he's my brother." He pointed upward and said, "Love you, Michael."
Among other highlights, former "Diff'rent Strokes" TV star Todd Bridges introduced a section on stars who had died in the past year, including his one-time co-star Gary Coleman. And John Legend was given a humanitarian award.

The countdown to the "American Idol" finale continued Tuesday night when the Top Six performed music from the songbook of country artist Shania Twain, who also served as this week's mentor.

Lee DeWyze kicked off the night's performances with "You're Still the One." Randy Jackson commented, "This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love this song. I was a little worried about you doing it. You started pitchy, but half-way through, you found a way to make it your own. You did a pretty good job." Ellen DeGeneres

felt that Lee did better than a pretty good job, saying, "You always make a song yours. It always sounds like your version rather than someone sang it before. I say all aboard the Shania Twain!" Kara DioGuardi told Lee, "The sound of your voice on every song makes it sound so relevant. Look how far you've come. That is a love song. I don't know if you related to the love portion, but you did smile a few times." Simon Cowell wrapped up the critiques saying, "I agree with everything everybody has said. That was the perfect choice out of Shania's songs."
Michael Lynche showed off his softer side on Shania's "It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing." Randy complimented, "Here is what I love. You really found your zone. It can be a country song, or an R&B song, but you were really in the zone of who you are. I hope you keep that in the future. There is a big, wide-open space for you." Ellen admitted, "I was nervous for you, but it felt like Luther Vandross singing that song. I felt your emotion. I felt you getting into it. I thought it was beautiful." Kara pointed out, "One of Shania's greatest gifts is how connected she is when she sings. I always feel you go to that place. The melody is so beautiful. I was glad you didn't change it too much, but just enough to put your mark on it." Simon agreed with Ellen, saying, "I know what Ellen meant when using the comparison with Luther. It was spot-on. A good analogy. I thought it was a little wet. A little musical theater. It was a little girly."
Casey James tackled his inner country crooner with "Don't." Randy praised, "For me, this is one of the best Casey James performances ever. You really learned something here. This could be a great thing in your wheelhouse with what you already do with the guitar." Ellen concurred, adding, "You sang that as if it is where you belong. I think it was your best performance to date." Kara pointed out, "Artists don't hide the good, the bad or the ugly. That is what you did in that performance. That is what you need to keep doing to be at the front of this competition." Simon commented, "Last week was a much-needed wake-up call for you. I actually agree with Randy that this is your best performance so far. I felt you were singing the song. It felt like your song."
Crystal Bowersox tackled the Shania track, "No One Needs to Know." Randy remarked, "It wasn't my favorite performance, but I love you. I am glad you mixed it up and somebody did a country version." Ellen told her, "I say it every week. There is nothing you can't do. It wasn't my favorite performance, but you are brilliant." Kara said, "It is impossible for you not to be good, because you are coming from a place of truth. That is why I always respond to you. Was it your best? No." Simon laid it on the line: "We don't like Crystal this week. I thought it was limp. It was something you expect when you are in a coffee shop and they hire a band to sing to you when you don't want them to. I felt the song was forgettable compared to some of the other songs. This was the only week, I haven't liked you."
Aaron Kelly chose the ballad "You've Got a Way." Randy complimented, "Dude, this is definitely your wheelhouse. You are our country artist on the show this year. I think you did a real good job." Ellen pointed out, "This is going to be tough tomorrow night because everybody is doing well. I can't believe you are 16 and you sang that so well." Aaron corrected her saying, "I am 17." Ellen laughed, and continued, "The maturity you had to embrace those lyrics … good job." Kara completely concurred with Ellen, adding, "It is like you really felt those words. And you changed one line." Aaron admitted he did because he was singing the song to his mother, which got "Ahs." Simon said, "I am going to be honest with you, I know you are only 17. I think the last two weeks you have struggled. However, tonight you were like a different artist. This is the kind of record you should make if you are going to make records. It felt sincere and not like you were singing someone else's song. Well done."

Tonight on American Idol, it would be Shania Twain songs night. Would the idol wannabees give justice to Shania Twain songs? I think that some would make a good job out of it but I am also sure that many would butcher her songs. I love Shania

Twain songs, I love their melodies and I love her voice, I could not imagine how it would come out if someone else would be singing her songs.On tonight's American Idol, the Top 6 are taking on the songs of Shania Twain.

As mentor, she tells the contestants they need to interpret the songs and make them her own.
Lee DeWyze is first, and he's singing "You're Still the One." Shania tells him he is rushing the guitar somewhat and gets him to slow it down a little. I think maybe she should have suggested he start a little lower in the chorus because it's a little rough, but overall still good, typical Lee. Randy Jackson says this is one of his all-time favorite songs. He says he was worried for him, but he found his sweet spot in the lower part of his register. Ellen DeGeneres says it was better than "pretty good" and that he made it his own. Kara DioGuardi says his voice makes every song sound "so relevant." She thinks it was "a good job." Simon Cowell agrees with "everything everyone's said." (Whoa, Twilight Zone.) He says he was pulling some weird faces here and there.

Kara says he is always connected to the songs, and he put his mark on it. Simon agrees with Ellen's Luther analogy. But he thinks the performance was "wet," but no one really understands what he's talking about. He says it was "a little bit girly for you."
Casey James tells Ryan that after last week, he went through all his performances and realized that last week, he didn't give anyone anything new. He is singing "Don't." Shania tells him to let his confidence come out through the song. He says it's "a singing song," and probably the first one of those he's done in a while. I think he's probably right -- this is way more of a performance than a jam. Randy says this was one of the best Casey James performances ever and he hopes Casey really learned something from this. Ellen says he sang it like that's where he belongs. She thinks it was his best to date. Kara says artists don't hide, and tonight that is what he was doing, he was out there. Simon says last week was a much-needed wakeup call and he agrees with Randy that it was his best performance.
Oooh! Did you see the So You Think You Can Dance ad? The Top 10 will be paired with 10 all stars from past seasons. (Yes, I know this is old news that Nigel has been tweeting about for ages, but now it's really real!)
Crystal Bowersox says she loved working with Shania because she is so nice and is surrounded by an aura of positivity. Shania says she should bring in a more positive feeling to her tone because this is a peppy song. Crystal interviews that it's a message to her boyfriend, who will "man up" one of these days. Heh. She sings "No One Needs to Know," and it's sweet and fun, a bit of a change for her. Plus, she seamlessly harmonizes with her background singer -- how many times have we seen people mess that up on this show? Randy says it felt like Nickel Creek, but it wasn't his favorite performance, but he's glad she did a country performance. Ellen says there is nothing she can't do, though it wasn't her favorite either. Kara says it's impossible for not to sound good because she's so authentic, but it wasn't her best. Simon says it was limp and felt like a coffee shop where they hire people to sing when you don't really want them to.
Aaron Kelly is singing "You Got a Way" and he tells her he is debating about some part of it. She tells him to stop thinking so much about hitting the notes and just feel the song. He sings and reminds us that he has a big voice -- it's one of his better performances, I'd say. Randy says this is his wheelhouse and that he did a really good job. Ellen says this week is going to be tough because everyone is doing so well. Kara says he really felt the words and he changed a line. He adds that he was singing the song to his mom, which is why he changed the line. Simon says he's struggled the past couple of weeks, but tonight "you were like a different artist."
Siobhan Magnus is singing Shania's first No. 1 hit, "Any Man of Mine." Shania tells her to put some character into the words to make them come alive. She sings it fast and with some attitude, and then closes with a couple of those huge, incredible notes. I don't always feel her big notes, but tonight they worked. Randy says he loved it, loved it, loved it. Ellen says it was fantastic and a good way to end the show. Kara says Siobhan is back. Simon says he really, really liked the song, though the thought the end went on a little too long. He says it was like she was giving birth up there if you just heard that note in isolation (bahahahahaha), but he liked it.

people are fuming mad on Twitter exclaiming their reaction to the win. Many wanted JujuBee to win and some think Raven deserved it. We personally think the contestants of the season were mostly not that great. Anyway, Tyra Sanchez is the queen for now until the next season and everyone knows that Jujubee will get the “Miss

Congeniality” award. Let’s just hope that Tyra Sanchez doesn’t attempt to release a single with that voice of hers.Tyra Sanchez Winner of Rupaul Drag Race Season 2 Finale – Reality TV show’s season finale for the series that is hosted by Rupaul, America’s Next Drag Superstar. The new Drag Race queen for season 2, it’s no other than Tyra Sanchez. The season finale was aired yesterday, April 26, 2010.
The last three queens will have to face their ultimate challenge, recording a music video for RuPaul’s next single: “Jealous of My Boogie.” Robert Verdi, Mathu Anderson and choreographer Ryan Heffington will be the guest stars, and Jujubee (Airline Inthyrath) was eliminated in the 11 episode.Congratulations to Tyra Sanchez for winning Season 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race last night. I thought Raven would win, but based on what we saw during the finale it's hard to disagree with the judge's decision. Tyra Sanchez has calimed victory in the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race . JujuBee was the favourate to win, and many think Raven deserved it, not being able to understand how Tyra Sancez managed to seal the win.
For now Tyra Sanchez is the queen for now until the next season and whil everybody can be certain that Jujubee will get the “Miss Congeniality” award. With such a critical responce to Sacnhez’s singing voice, people are hoping that the confidence and fame associated with the win will lead to her releasing a single.

After capturing the hearts of audiences' (and the Academy) for his moving role in "The Wrestler," Mickey Rourke shows a darker side in his new role in "Iron Man 2." As Tony Stark's nemesis, Rourke is Ivan Vanko, a tattooed Russian physicist determined to overpower Robert Downey Jr.'s character.

"It's been OK," he said of the dramatic change in characters. "You know, I wanted to do a different kind of movie after 'The Wrestler,' and this was definitely different--way different--so it was a lot of fun to do this."

To prepare for the role, Rourke told us he actually spent time in Russia."Iron Man 2" has its mega world premiere in Hollywood in just a couple of hours, but the movie screened today in the U.K., where it opens this Friday. (Yes, much of the world gets to see it a week before North America.)

Showing off his always quirky fashion sense, Robert Downey Jr. arrived in style at the premiere of his new film

"Iron Man 2" in Hollywood on Monday night. Donning a typical pair of funky shades and a faux flower in his lapel, Downey talked to reporters outside the El Capitan Theatre about reprising the role of Tony Stark.So why does he think the first film was such a hit?

"Well, I know that a big part of it was that we were able to do what most of these genre films can't do, which is appeal to women and younger gals," he told us as we fought to get in a question amongst a pool of reporters on the red carpet. "And we didn't necessarily design it that way. I think part of it was always in the fabric of the 'Iron Man' story. I know that Stan Lee said that 'Iron Man' got more female fan mail than all the other superheroes put together--probably because he's a bit more vulnerable and reminds them of their snotty boyfriends that they wish to calm down."
After seeing the film, we don't know how vulnerable Stark really is, but he certainly does remind of us of a couple of obnoxious suitors we've dated who have needed to be reigned in.After capturing the hearts of audiences' (and the Academy) for his moving role in "The Wrestler," Mickey Rourke shows a darker side in his new role in "Iron Man 2." As Tony Stark's nemesis, Rourke is Ivan Vanko, a tattooed Russian physicist determined to overpower Robert Downey Jr.'s character.
"It's been OK," he said of the dramatic change in characters. "You know, I wanted to do a different kind of movie after 'The Wrestler,' and this was definitely different--way different--so it was a lot of fun to do this."
To prepare for the role, Rourke told us he actually spent time in Russia.
"I was in Russia on other business and it just happened to come at the right time, so I was able to go there and visit the prison," he said. He brought back what he learned there and "laid it out" for director Jon Favreau, who allowed the actor to the freedom to "roll with it."

Many wanted JujuBee to win and some think Raven deserved it. We personally think the contestants of the season were mostly not that great. Anyway, Tyra Sanchez is the queen for now until the next season and everyone knows that Jujubee will get the “Miss Congeniality” award. Let’s just hope that Tyra Sanchez doesn’t attempt to release a single with that voice of hers.

'One Tree Hill': Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian Alex Dupre

"One Tree Hill" returns from a long hiatus, bringing its familiar blend of camp, soap and melodrama back with it.

Hey, remember when Haley's mom died? And Jana slept with her co-star, who secretly taped it? And Brooke and Julian got back together? And Clay met his dead ex-wife's crazy doppleganger? And Mouth macked on Lauren? And Grubbs got a record deal? Yeah, I don't really remember the last few, either. But they all happened. Let's see what's in store next for our Tree Hillers, shall we?
Brooke and Julian are back together, schmoopy as ever and acting as if all of the ridiculous childishness of the last six episodes or so never happened. I am perfectly OK with this, as I have already blocked it out completely. On the last day of principal photography of Julian's film, Jana's co-star Josh's computer -- which has the illicit sex tape on it -- gets stolen. Whoever did the stealing is now blackmailing the producers for $1 million in order to keep it quiet. OK, I highly doubt normal producers would pay to keep the tape suppressed. It's free publicity! Julian then confirms my cynicism by mentioning the publicity thing himself, but Brooke very maturely urges him to help Alex out of this situation. Josh turns out to be the one behind the entire scam, though, so Alex just might be beyond Julian's help this time.
Haley takes a pregnancy test, but it turns out negative. Nathan wants a baby and says they can try again, but from the look on Haley's face a baby is the last thing on her mind considering her grief over her mother's death. She then completely shatters my heart by breaking down in anguished tears all alone in the middle of the night. Poor Haley.
Quinn is busy this week with her big gallery opening. Everything is going well until Crazy Doppleganger Katie buys Clay's portrait from the show, causing him to drop his beer right on the ground in horror. Don't waste beer, Clay. Even with the threat of getting your bunny boiled, that's just uncalled for. Operation: Crazy Stalker is officially underway, with Katie texting Clay about how Quinn is all wrong for him. He tells her under no uncertain circumstances to leave, and later comes clean to Quinn about the entire situation, even showing her a picture of Sarah so they can both be creeped out by the resemblance. Hooray for honesty!
Skills is back in town and wants Lauren back as well, but she's more interested in her new thing with Mouth than going backward with Skills. Lauren decides to tell Mouth she is only interested in him while in front of a camera that is set up to randomly take pictures and then display them in a slide show during the gallery show. Which, of course, Skills sees; he hen proceeds to punch Mouth right in the, well, mouth. Lauren and Mouth are not very smart, y'all.
Grubbs' record is coming along, but Miranda the producer's visa gets revoked and she has to leave the country. Grubbs' solution is to ask her to marry him. These people have their own storyline why?

Korbi TV caught up with "OTH" star James Lafferty (Nathan Scott) to get a little scoop on what we can expect...
Last we saw Nathan, his mother-in-law had just lost her battle with cancer. Will much of your upcoming storyline revolve around Nathan helping Haley and Jamie through that loss?
JL: It's actually Nathan and Jamie helping Haley through it. She's obviously the one that's hit the hardest by [her mother's death]. Her and [her sister] Quinn. So it's something that is going to pull the Scott family unit tighter.
Would you say that's a major theme throughout the end of this season?
JL: Yeah. Absolutely. There are definitely new developments that the viewers should be tuning in for, specifically in the finale episode. But as these next four air, we're going to see a lot of them dealing with the pain of Haley's mom passing away.
Because we don't know whether or not that finale will be the final episode of the series, there's a lot of talk about how the season will end. Will there be a cliffhanger as per usual?
JL: Um, I don't know. I think that the way the finale ends will depend on whether or not we get an eighth season pick up.
Ah, so you shot different endings.
JL: Yeah, I don't know, I may actually be crossing the line even saying that, but hopefully they'll give me a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card.
Yeah, you're probably okay as long as you don't spill the specifics of what was shot. Can you tell us, though, if the show does end here, are you happy with the way Nathan's storyline wraps up?
JL: Yeah, I mean, I guess. I think that we will always be able to end the show better if we know when the end is [coming]. I think that goes for any show. And I think the fans will be left wanting more if we don't get another season, absolutely.
But your characters do seem to be in a good place in terms of following the right future paths. The Scott family is on solid ground, Clay has come along and fits in well while making Quinn happy, Brooke and Julian seem to be a good match.
JL: Yeah, I think character-wise, we're all heading down the right roads. You know, if we were to get cut off now, I'm not saying there would be some sort of catastrophic fallout, because we left so many loose ends. But I think you can always [wrap the stories up] better if you know the end is coming ahead of time.
Well, say that the show did get another season, are you thinking about what you'd like to see happen? Maybe another baby for Nathan and Haley?
JL: I think I'd just like to see Nathan continue to be passionate about whatever he does, whether it's the NBA or another career path. I think it would be interesting to see him do something else. You know, we've known Nathan as a basketball player for so long, it would be cool to see how he did in the world without it and what his struggle would be if he tried to stray from that.

Andersen, Chief executive of ACA International, stated that she is affected with the increasing lawsuits, which she said cost her industry hundreds of millions of dollars a year. She said much of the raise was the effect of unclear language in the Fair Debt Collection Act. With this, Debtorboards could add challenge on the part of the debt collectors.
Debt collectors are compelled, for instance, to be familiar with them on a voice message left for a consumer, she said. But they are also outlawed from telling a third party — counting someone who might overhear a phone message — about a consumer’s debt. As added by Ms. Andersen: “We are between a rock and a hard place.” “We believe those types of Web sites are encouraging people to not take responsibility for just debt,” she added.
Debtorboards may assist consumers with their debt issues. On the other hand, Debtorboards could bring difficulties from debt collectors in pursuing their clients or consumers.

According to Mistress Juliya on Twitter, Peter Steele, frontman for Type O Negative, has passed away.

She said, “Today is a very sad day in metal…End of an era. Peter Steele passed today. I loved my friend…our idol…my heart is with his band and family… @msjenncity he passed of heart failure today. Just spoke to Kenny.”
His Wikipedia has been updated to reflect his passing on April 14, 2010. We hope this is not true. In the simplest, cheapest, easiest plot ploy to ascertain, Sue Sylvester is back in charge of her Cheerios cheerleaders, reinstalled by Principal Figgins because he slept with her. Wait, ew? What? Ew. Didn't see that coming... (Actually, that’s “slept,” with quotes: she met him for dinner, ruffied his drink, he wakes next to her – he naked, she in her favorite red running suit – she takes a ridiculous photo and threatens to send it to his wifey and his church. Blackmail with no “actual” evidence (ew ew ew) but strong enough to be scary.)
Meanwhile, Finn’s feeling down. We’ve moved from football season to basketball season, and he’s not as good at that and, well, Rachel is convinced she’s his girlfriend and is naturally overcontrolling, overbearing and a general spazz. A spazz that he doesn’t seem to mind all that much until…
Oh, wait. Time for a hilariously weak, but pleasing, artifice to introduce the night’s musical theme. “Hell-O.” A reintroduction. A starting over for the Glee club, in sound and to the season of viewers. And the word Hell, which isn’t as pleasing as Hello. We see what you did there.
Mr. Schuester and Finn bro it up, with the Glee club leader pushing the jock to recover from all the baby daddy drama with Quinn, to “being OK just being you” like, y’know, Mick Jagger and the Doors’ Jim Morrison. Cue “Hello, I Love You,” featuring a nod to the absurdity of a rock covers band on retainer in a high school. Cory Monteith’s Finn shows off his husky tenor, and hilariously provides for us a second-long shot of Kurt going into heat. All eyes on him, that is until he’s upstaged by Jesse St. James. More on that in a second.
In an effort to cause chaos in the Glee club, Sue enlists the ever-ditzy Brittany and Santana to tear Finn away from Rachel, with the ultimate goal of getting Rachel to quit, erasing the school’s chances to place at Regionals (which they need to do to keep their funding). They decide that the best approach is to offer the prospect of a cheerleader sandwich.
The allure is too great, Finn tells Rachel he needs to be a free man, she busts out some seriously histrionics, brings the pain by erupting into All American Rejects, “Give You Hell.” Despite the burn, it comes off like a Coke commercial. There’s some inexplicable break dancing. We predict a group dance lesson in the future.

Back in Tune with Glee Creators Brad Falchuck and Ian Brennan by Troy Rogers

'Glee' is back! And maybe it's true that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but I think this was one of its strongest episodes yet. And the fact that it guest-starred two of my favorite Broadway stars was just icing on the delicious, delicious cake.

New New Directions: In keeping with the fact that it's the spring premiere, this episode is all about moving forward -- illustrated by Will's selection of "hello" as the theme for the latest round of songs. After winning Sectionals, the Glee kids are

stars! Glitterati! Lady Gaga-esque! ...For about five minutes until they're slushied. Well, at least they'll stay humble.
Higgins insists that the club place at Regionals to stay alive, where their main competition will be Vocal Adrenaline, the virtually unbeatable group directed by IDINA MENZEL!!! Have I died and gone to Broadway geek heaven? Is Bernadette Peters going to show up as Will's mom? Will Raul Esparza stop by as a new teacher at McKinley High? You guys had better hope not, because I'd probably turn into an incoherent fangirl at that point.
Romeos and Juliet: When Rachel proves, in a shocking turn of events, to be a high-maintenance girlfriend who's also social kryptonite, Finn dumps her. It probably didn't help that Sue threw Brittany and Santana at him in a threesome-ful attempt to get Rachel to quit the club out of heartbreak. Finn tries to move on with "Hello, I Love You," while Rachel drops the "o" and slams him with a rousing "Gives You Hell." I give her the edge, though maybe that's because I prefer the more natural rehearsal room songs over the music video-style montages.
Rachel moves on a little faster than Finn, in fact, when she meets Jesse St. James, her counterpart at Vocal Adrenaline. Jesse is played by Jonathan Groff(!!!), Lea Michele's co-star in "Spring Awakening," which is incidentally an awesome show and all of you should go see it while it's on tour. Seriously. Do it. Jesse is so over-the-top ridiculously egotistical that it's hilarious, but it's love at first song when he and Rachel bump into each other while browsing sheet music and knock out a rather treacly duet of "Hello," by Lionel Richie.

Thanks to Brittany and Santana, the club finds out about our star-crossed lovers and threatens to kick Rachel out if she doesn't break up with Jesse. And to be fair, given Rachel's tendency toward "his and hers" relationship calendars and other undesirable traits in a girlfriend, I don't blame them for assuming Jesse is a spy (not that she doesn't have many great qualities, of course).

After Sue welcomes Rachel into the McKinley High "Old Maids Club" (picture the exact opposite of the Cheerios), Rachel gets Jesse's assurance that he's nuts about her and suggests a secret relationship. I'm not sure how to interpret Idina spotting Jesse and Rachel kissing, though. Jesse clearly saw her, but I think his expression is open to interpretation. Or maybe I'm just (not) seeing what I (don't) want to see, given how super-fake he seemed in the first scene.
Once Rachel assures everyone it's over with Jesse, Finn very sincerely asks her to be "in a real couple" with him, and refuses to give up when she cites the drama it would cause on the team and declines. Um ... couldn't she have just said she wasn't over Jesse yet? Lea Michele and Cory Monteith play "Hello, Goodbye" perfectly, looking upset and hopeful, respectively. Even though Rachel is lying to him, I honestly can't say I feel that bad for Finn. He jerked her around, and he's obviously still not over Quinn.
He even cooks: He may be all kinds of messed up, and he may have an unhealthy addiction to L.A. Looks (gotta side with Sue on that one), but Will Shuester sure can reel in the ladies! It's initially rough going with Emma, who insists on a full dental cleaning before kissing. When things start to heat up on their first date, she confesses that she's never made it to home base with a guy before because she's waiting for someone who can deal with her brand of crazy ... or maybe until someone invents a full-body condom?
Will stops by a Vocal Adrenaline rehearsal to accuse them of sending Jesse to spy on New Directions, and walks in during an awesome performance of "Highway to Hell." Jonathan Groff, man. Yeah. But OH NOES, Will's conversation with Idina somehow leads to a hot 'n heavy makeout session on his couch! He stops things before they get too far, but still, dude. Emma's far too adorable to cheat on. (Also, way to send out the message to teendom that your guy will cheat on you if you don't sex him up!) Idina suggests that Will take some time to get reacquainted with Will, seeing as he's separated from his wife and things with Emma are already fizzling. And then she gives him her number. You know, for later. Can't say I blame her.
In the meantime, Terri interrupts Emma as she's setting up for a surprise date at Will's apartment. Wow, I can't even look at her without glaring. Emma does stand up to the verbal abuse way better than you'd expect, though. Unfortunately, Terri breaks the news that she and Will danced to "Hello Again" by Neil Diamond at the prom long before he chose it for a romantic dance with Emma. And while Emma knows he didn't consciously remember the song, she believes his choice means he isn't really over Terri. I can understand that, but I definitely can't understand her logic that settling for her crazy is somehow equivalent to settling for Terri's crazy. Lying about being pregnant vs. always having minty fresh breath when you kiss seems like a pretty easy call to me. Sadly, Will and Emma are over before they even truly began, so that Will can log some solo time.

Once Rachel assures everyone it's over with Jesse, Finn very sincerely asks her to be "in a real couple" with him, and refuses to give up when she cites the drama it would cause on the team and declines. Um ... couldn't she have just said she wasn't over Jesse yet? Lea Michele and Cory Monteith play "Hello, Goodbye" perfectly, looking upset and hopeful, respectively. Even though Rachel is lying to him, I honestly can't say I feel that bad for Finn. He jerked her around, and he's obviously still not over Quinn.
He even cooks: He may be all kinds of messed up, and he may have an unhealthy addiction to L.A. Looks (gotta side with Sue on that one), but Will Shuester sure can reel in the ladies! It's initially rough going with Emma, who insists on a full dental cleaning before kissing. When things start to heat up on their first date, she confesses that she's never made it to home base with a guy before because she's waiting for someone who can deal with her brand of crazy ... or maybe until someone invents a full-body condom?
Will stops by a Vocal Adrenaline rehearsal to accuse them of sending Jesse to spy on New Directions, and walks in during an awesome performance of "Highway to Hell." Jonathan Groff, man. Yeah. But OH NOES, Will's conversation with Idina somehow leads to a hot 'n heavy makeout session on his couch! He stops things before they get too far, but still, dude. Emma's far too adorable to cheat on. (Also, way to send out the message to teendom that your guy will cheat on you if you don't sex him up!) Idina suggests that Will take some time to get reacquainted with Will, seeing as he's separated from his wife and things with Emma are already fizzling. And then she gives him her number. You know, for later. Can't say I blame her.
In the meantime, Terri interrupts Emma as she's setting up for a surprise date at Will's apartment. Wow, I can't even look at her without glaring. Emma does stand up to the verbal abuse way better than you'd expect, though. Unfortunately, Terri breaks the news that she and Will danced to "Hello Again" by Neil Diamond at the prom long before he chose it for a romantic dance with Emma. And while Emma knows he didn't consciously remember the song, she believes his choice means he isn't really over Terri. I can understand that, but I definitely can't understand her logic that settling for her crazy is somehow equivalent to settling for Terri's crazy. Lying about being pregnant vs. always having minty fresh breath when you kiss seems like a pretty easy call to me. Sadly, Will and Emma are over before they even truly began, so that Will can log some solo time.

Conan O'Brien to return with late-night show

Conan O'Brien faces a long haul to get back to the top of the TV mountain.
He's been there before, though, so let's assume that on this next trip he won't settle for just conquering a few foothills.

In either case, the new late-night talk show he'll be starting on TBS in November is probably the best of his options.

He doubtless would have preferred Fox, because Fox is a broadcast network and, at this point, broadcast is still the TV summit.
TBS has its strengths, though, including wide distribution and a comedy-friendly climate.
It lso gives him the freedom of cable, which means he can rehire the Masturbating Bear, at the same time it puts him on a channel that courts a broad audience.
That's not a minor point.On Spike or Comedy Central, he could be edgier than ever and likely become a major cult fave.
Trouble is, he's been there already. He's also hosted "The Tonight Show," which he called the best job in show business.
It's probably safe to say that at this point he's aiming closer to the latter than the former.
He starts the quest with a good-guy reputation and a reservoir of sympathy.
He still has a steep climb.
For many years, Conan was the face of television's comedy future.
He was the guy who respected Johnny Carson and Jay Leno and yet could still draw that critical younger and hipper crowd.
NBC was so afraid of losing him that in 2004 it gave Leno five years' notice to vacate "Tonight" so Conan could move in.
Then 2009 came, Conan took over and half the "Tonight" audience disappeared.
Talk about "younger demographics" all you want, that's a bad number. It says Conan was great with his cult and not so great with the masses.
If he wants to get back to the top, he's got to prove those numbers were a fluke.
Which is going to take more than the return of the Masturbating Bear.

Kevin Eubanks announces 'Tonight Show' departure

"The Tonight Show" can start its search for a new bandleader in earnest now.
Kevin Eubanks, who said earlier this year that he would depart, made it official during Monday's (April 12) broadcast. Eubanks told host Jay Leno that his last day on "Tonight" will be May 28.

"After 18 years, I just need a change of pace and see what else is going on," Eubanks told Leno. "But it's a really difficult decision, because this has become my second home, as it has been for the band, and I love the audience and the American people really love the show and it's been a wonderful experience to be here."
He also joked that after "playing America in to commercials" since 1992, when he joined Leno's "Tonight Show" band, "I'm gonna go somewhere where I can finish a song."
"You've been a great friend and really supportive," Leno said to Eubanks. "When those jokes die, I've got to look to you, man."
Eubanks was originally a guitar player for the "Tonight Show" band and became its leader three years later, when Branford Marsalis departed. He followed Leno to his prime-time show earlier this season and then back to "The Tonight Show" after NBC's late-night shakeup. News of his departure from the show first leaked in February.

Gears of War 3 trailer debuts on US talk show

The trailer of the third installment of the mega selling game “Gears of War 3” has been launched by Cliff Bleszinski, CEO of the Epic Games. The trailer was revealed on the show “Late Nigh with Jimmy Fallon”. The game belongs to the genre of third-person action and is hugely famed due to its slow-mo action moves and body penetrating weaponry.

The trailer was very much awaited by the series fans as the gamers all over the world were left wanting for more after a lot of teasers and gossip. The news of the launch was first leaked on the Xbox dashboard news update.

Why wait for Cliff Bleszinski to debut Gears of War 3 on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon? Here's the trailer for the "worst-kept secret in the video game industry," posted to the Late Night website ... before it's appeared on television. The trailer is prefaced by some banter with Mister B about his vintage Nintendo Power appearance and what makes a great game.

The new game has playable female soldiers in it! Take that, Crackdown 2! Don't worry, it's still jam-packed with men who look like refrigerators, and mellow music like the famous Gears of War trailer (in this case, Sun Kil Moon's "Heron Blue".)

Other elements mentioned by Cliff include new weapons and new aliens -- "crazy tentacle monsters" with mutating ability. Bleszinski said GOW3 will arrive "probably around April 8" -- one year after his Late Night appearance was supposed to be shown. Wouldn't that have been nice marketing? Oh, well.

nine countries since moving into the White House. But this time, when she arrives in Mexico, she will be a solo star on the world stage. Her three-day journey to Mexico City will be her first official foreign trip alone -- without the president and without her children. She will use it to amplify and articulate a singular message to young people: self-determination.
Recent first ladies have often been at their most provocative when they've traveled abroad. As first lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton traveled to China for the U.N. Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995 to deliver a major address. In the weeks leading up to her speech, Clinton administration officials debated whether it was wise for her to go, whether she should confront China on its human rights abuses and how it should be done. She ended up delivering her now-famous speech in which she equated women's rights and human rights. "If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference," Clinton said, "it is that human rights are women's rights, and women's rights are human rights once and for all."
Observers worried that the comments would turn out to be politically devastating. But in an interview with reporters after the fact, Clinton said: "We are working towards having a very comprehensive and hopefully good relationship with China in many areas. For me, it was important to express how I felt and to do so as clearly as I could."
In 2002, when Laura Bush was in Prague on her first overseas trip alone, she delivered a 13-minute address on Radio Free Europe in which she stumped for women's rights in Afghanistan. "I want you to know that the isolation the Taliban regime forced on you is not normal," she said. "When I first interviewed with her in 2004, that was the first thing she said, 'I want to go to Afghanistan,' " recalls Anita McBride, her chief of staff from 2005 to 2009. "She'd been talking about going. She'd been meeting with Afghan women quietly at the White House. But she had been prevented from going for a number of reasons. That was my first responsibility."
In embarking on her first solo trip, Obama is following an agenda that her staff will describe only in the broadest of terms: It is meant to underscore "the president's commitment to advancing mutual interests, mutual respect and mutual responsibility between nations and peoples around the world.
But in the days before her departure, the East Wing got more specific and more ambitious, declaring the trip "the kickoff of the first lady's international agenda," with a focus on "youth engagement." Obama will be in Mexico City for a total of about 40 hours and is not expected to travel outside the capital. She will speak to young people -- from primary-school students to recent college graduates -- encouraging them to become active in their communities and take responsibility for their own future.
The Obama White House, over the course of a year and a half, has been particularly attentive to Mexico, and the first lady's trip underscores the breadth and depth of this country's relationship with its southern neighbor. "I needed to make birdies -- there were a lot of fireworks going on in front of us," said Mickelson, who was 13-under par on the back nine in four rounds. "The putt on 12 got me going."
Westwood, trying to become the first Englishman to win a major championship since Nick Faldo in '96, shot a final-round 71 to finish at 275, three shots back. In the past eight majors, he has finished third twice and second once -- missing playoffs at the '09 U.S. Open and '09 British Open by one shot.

This was about winning one for your wife and coming together as a family, not cheating on your wife and tearing apart your family.

The week began with Phil Mickelson's wife at home in San Diego because she was too weak from her cancer treatments to come to the Masters. It ended with her coming to the Augusta National Golf Club to catch the end of her husband's stirring victory.
The week began with Woods' wife back in Sweden because she probably didn't want to be near her husband and the commotion of his scorned mistresses.
It ended with the world's No. 1 golfer talking about coming to Augusta National to win a golf tournament, not finishing tied for fourth.
Thank goodness for Mickelson.
He made sure all went as it probably should have, winning the 74th Masters Sunday with a feel-good story that allowed him to become only the eighth player to win three green jackets -- and only the fourth to win three in a seven-year span.

With his wife, Amy, pulling herself out of bed and watching from the back of the 18th green, he finished off a four-round spectacle of stunning shots and remarkable achievements with a 10-foot birdie on the final hole, pumping both arms in triumphant salute above his head.

After a warm and lengthy embrace with his caddie, Jim "Bones" McKay, Mickelson made his way up the runway behind the green and saw his wife standing with their kids. Mickelson did not know she was going to be there, but she was, too weak to even walk down to the green.

They hugged for a long time. And they cried.

"Not much was said," Mickelson said.

Then they walked, arm in arm, to the Jones Cabin for the green-jacket presentation.

"My wife has been through a lot this year and it means a lot to share some joy together," Mickelson said. "She's an incredible wife and incredible mother and she's been an inspiration for me this past year after what she's been through. To cap it off with this victory, I can't put into words."

Words aren't necessary.

This was a story of faith, commitment, love, not betrayal, marital infidelity and sociopathic behavior.

This was a triumph of family, a moment for tears. Not a moment for false redemption or a reward for cold, calculated behavior.

Mickelson had a pink ribbon on his hat and a smile on his face. Not a scarlet letter on his chest and a creepy commercial on television.

It has been a grueling 11 months for Lefty. Amy Mickelson was diagnosed with breast cancer in May. Her long-term prognosis is good, but the short-term struggle has been tough, changing the way they live. But it's not just Mickelson's wife who has breast cancer. So does his mother, who was diagnosed one month after Amy.

Because of their health, Mickelson has tried to curtail his travel schedule and spend more time at home.

"It's been an emotional year," Mickelson said. "I'm very proud of my wife, of the fight and struggle she's been through. To come out on top of this tournament is very emotional.

"It's one of the best things we've gone through. It's been tough. To be on the other end and feel this kind of jubilation is incredible."

It was remarkable all the way.

There were the back-to-back eagles in the third round and the wedge from 81 yards that nearly went in for a third in a row.

There was the 20-foot birdie putt from behind the hole at No. 12 that gave him a two-shot lead in the final round. And the 6-iron from 207 yards on a pine-straw lie that landed 4 feet from the hole at No. 13. And the adrenaline-filled 8-iron from 205 yards at No. 15 that he two-putted from 15 feet for birdie.

That allowed Mickelson to make the walk through the long shadows in the fading sunlight, a Masters champion again.

The champion thoroughbreds were to have raced Friday for $5 million in the Apple Blossom. But Rachel Alexandra's owners backed out, and Oaklawn dropped the purse to its original $500,000 for the 1 1/8-mile race for older fillies and mares.
Zenyatta overpowered a short field for her 16th win, a victory that put her in the company of Cigar and Citation.
Official attendance was 44,973. Last year's crowd at Oaklawn's final Friday was 21,782.
But even as traffic flowed steadily toward the track, restaurant owner Jack Strafaci lamented the loss of Rachel Alexandra from the program.
"It would have put Arkansas on the map. He (Oaklawn president Charles Cella) would have put racing on the map again," Strafaci said. "But this is good. The town's full."
Strafaci, who owns Facci's Italian restaurant near Oaklawn Park, stood amid mostly empty tables. But he and other business owners said they expected business to get better throughout the evening — even if it didn't reach the spectacular levels envisioned when everyone expected Rachel Alexandra to run.
Bill Baswell had converted his Magic Spray car wash into a parking lot that could hold 135 vehicles. He was puzzled when he still had a few spots available after Friday's first race.
"Bill, where is everybody?" asked one customer as she headed for the crosswalk to the track. Baswell shrugged.
"I wa really anticipating a larger crowd," he said.
If Rachel Alexandra had run, he would have charged $50 per spot, he said. Instead, he was charging $20, although some lots nearby were asking $40.
The Apple Blossom was pushed to Friday from the weekend before to accommodate Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra. The change put it the day before what's ordinarily Oaklawn's biggest race, the $1 million Arkansas Derby, a key prep race for the Kentucky Derby and the closer to Oaklawn's live season. Business owners speculated the change would result in a bigger crowd than either individual race typically drew.
"I think they should keep them back-to-back," Strafaci said. "The nice thing about this is you have two big races (on consecutive days)."
Franki Johnston, owner of The Fudge Factory on historic Bathhouse Row in the resort city's downtown, said business was average Friday afternoon, but she expected it to improve and had extra help scheduled Friday and Saturday.
Hot Springs tourism director Steve Arrison said he was pleased with how the day shaped up: Restaurants were full Thursday night, and many of their customers had bedded down in area hotels. While there were plenty of cancellations after Rachel Alexandra pulled out, hotels were able to rebook, he said.
"The town is full, we're just not over full," Arrison said.
And with the Apple Blossom running in the early evening, there was still time for folks in Little Rock to make the hour-long drive in time to see the big race. With the temperature about 70 degrees, a nice breeze and a few wispy clouds, "you couldn't ask for a better day," Arrison said.

The buzz about Nike's latest ad featuring Tiger Woods gets louder each day and Funny or Die decides to contribute to it. Using the lines of Morgan Freeman in "The Shawshank Redemption", the spoof sees 'Tiger' feeling "burning down there" and learning that he should not text.

In the original ad, Nike used a voice over from Earl Woods that said, "Authoritarian. Yea, Tida is very authoritative. She is very definitive. 'Yes' and

'No.' I am more prone to be inquisitive, to promote discussion. I want to find out what your thinking was, I want to find out what your feelings are and did you learn anything? So we were two different types but we co-existed pretty well."

The father of the golfer died in 2006 and this leads to questions of why would Nike use a dead man's voice in the commercial. The brand remains mum about the purpose but told the AP that the audio was taken from a 2004 documentary where Earl talked about his parenting style and his wife Kultida's. It has truly been entertaining to watch the repackaging of Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods is a product, like a little GI Joe you might find in Wal-Mart. Only this one comes with golf clubs instead of guns. And it doesn’t have a Kung-Fu grip, it has a Kung Fu…well, you get the idea. Since Tiger is not a real person, everything he says and does cannot be believed. Tiger is like a bear riding a bicycle. A bear can be trained to do it but he’d rather be in the woods doing what bears do.Is Tiger sorry for what he did? Possibly, but I doubt it. Is he sorry he got caught? Most definitely! Tiger the product was presented to the world as a straight-laced family man. He had big charities and didn’t do the stupid, destructive things so many professional athletes do on their own time. It is no different than how Michael Jordan was packaged to hide the true jerk he is. Tiger the real person was just like the other stupid professional athletes. They do what they do because the can do it. They have money beyond comprehension and money buys nearly everything in this life. Young, pampered athletes are accustomed to being adored since childhood for what they do on the field or golf course. Yes, they might be great golfers and such but they are truly terrible people.
The fact that Tiger the real person went chasing skirt with Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley tells you even more about his character. Jordan and Barkley are two industrial strength scumbags. AWD has personally seen Barkley in action at a charity golf event. Robocop could tell stories on that too. So Tiger the real person let his hair down and who did he choose to spend time with? Dirtbags. Telling.
Another revelation of the real Tiger was just before he entered the Masters tournament. He said he wanted to show he had changed and was now “a good investment.” That’s what this is really all about. Money. We will be subjected to numerous sham photo ops and commercials beating up Tiger the product over the actions of Tiger the real person. Tiger will look contrite and maybe force a tear or two but remember the bear and the bicycle. AWD once read “believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.” In the case of Tiger Woods, don’t believe anything you hear or see. It’s all smoke and mirrors designed to move Tiger the product from the red of his indiscretions and back into the black on the balance sheet.
Personally, I don’t care about Tiger Woods. I feel sorry for his kids in this because they are innocents in this. His wife married him because of his money so she got what so many wives of pro athletes get. They love the money, jets and lifestyle so they keep looking the other way. In most cases, the pro wives are as vapid as the pro athletes. AWD never liked or trusted Tiger Woods from the beginning of his pro career. His first Nike commercials had him saying “I cannot play on some golf courses because of the color of my skin.” That was pretty much BS as he probably had never been refused entry at any course because he was half black. But I could give him the benefit of the doubt. Then I read Nike was running the same ad in Asia but saying Woods had been turned away because he was half-Asian! It was plain Woods would be nothing more than a salesman for Nike and his other sponsors.
If Tiger the product wins the Masters, watch for a big tearful hug and kiss from his wife on the 72nd hole complete with millions of cameras to record the event. All will be well again in America and in Tigerland. The endorsements will come back, millions will cheer his name again. Only Tiger the real person will be miserable because he would rather be chasing some strange with Jordan and Barkley. And, eventually, he will.

Why did Oprah find herself making such a confession on Friday's (April 9) talk show? Because the guys from "The Buried Life," MTV's reality show about four friends who hit the road to complete a list of "100 things to do before you die," had stopped by for a chat.
"It sounds very dark," said co-star Jonnie Penn of their quest. "It's really not a dark project at all. It's the opposite."
Over the course of the series, the friends — Jonnie and Duncan Penn, Ben Nemtin and Dave Lingwood — ended up giving a toast at a stranger's wedding, entering a dance contest, telling a joke on late-night TV and helping deliver a baby. And, at one point, during a trip to the White House basketball courts, they managed to shoot hoops with the commander-in-chief.
"Barack Obama walks from the other side of the court — the president of the United States," Lingwood said. "And he says: 'Oh, hey guys. I heard you guys were in town. I'd love to shoot some hoops with you. I'm a pretty busy guy, but I can shoot some baskets.' "
The idea for the project originated with a poem by the 19th century English poet Matthew Arnold. "It hit us so deep," Jonnie Penn said. "You have things you're almost told to do, but sometimes, those things and all the things that go on in your life can bury you. You can feel like the whole world is on top of you. We wanted to dig through that and live our buried lives."
In addition to checking off items from their bucket list, the guys have helped other folks fulfill their wishes. On the first season, they helped a girl, whose mother died during Hurricane Katrina, travel to Colorado to visit her grave for the first time. "Buried Life" has been picked up for a second season, so the crew will once again be hitting the road to help themselves and others.
"Doing the things on our list is amazing and really cool, but it's one thing to enter a stranger's life," Lingwood said. "It's so lasting, because you create a relationship with them."

Making his first competitive appearance since details of his extra-marital affairs emerged, Woods hit a

four under-par 68, his best opening round score at Augusta.
"Turns out, he is what they say he is," wrote Bill Plaschke in the LA Times. "He is what they shout. He is what they crave. He is what they believe. No matter how much his sleazy behavior has betrayed everything he claimed to be, Tiger Woods is still The Man."
Woods's demeanour was being watched almost as closely as his shots, with several writers remarking that he seemed to be doing his best to keep a lid on his emotions. "His full charm offensive – still in hyper mode, still somewhat phony – was active," noted CBS Sports's Mike Freeman. "He smiled more. He engaged the gallery possibly more than ever in his career. There wasn't a single hole where he cursed. Those were the ways he looked different."
Reilly hailed Woods for keeping a lid on his emotions so successfully. "That 68 is preposterous and historic and unthinkable when you put yourself in his shoes for one minute. Imagine the emotional bloodshed he has gone through, albeit self-inflicted. He not only hadn't played a tournament the entire year, nor faced the public after five shameful months, but he was trying out a whole new serenity-now personality on the course.

"There were times when you could tell he wanted to bite a hole in his lower lip. On the sixth, he missed a makeable birdie putt, took his putter behind his neck and looked as if he was about to punish it harshly for misbehavior – Old Tiger Style – when he stopped himself. On 14, he hooked his second shot and, just for an instant, looked as if he might bury the thing deep enough to plant tulip bulbs, but checked himself and just gently dropped it behind him instead. On 18, he missed nearly a kick-in for birdie, screamed silently … and came into the press building anyway."

But Woods wasn't the only one under scrutiny. The crowd's reaction to his return was of at least as much interest as Woods's performance itself, and, for the most part, they seemed to be supportive.
"He was embraced, encouraged and applauded," wrote Fox Sports's Robert Lusetich. "We saw Thursday that forgiveness is possible; that people are willing to give Tiger Woods a second chance."
Plaschke added: "We don't want our sports stars to enlighten or influence, we want them to entertain. We judge their morality with a stat sheet and their integrity with a scoreboard. Woods's first round in 144 days was his best first round ever at Augusta. Now that's remorse.
None failed to notice the plane that flew overhead trailing banners that read "Tiger Did You Mean Bootyism?" and "Sex Addict? Yeah, Sure, Me Too!" Freeman confirmed that there were dissenters in the gallery, too, saying: "Not every fan was cheering Woods. A woman said loudly she wished Woods would get struck by lightning."

Christine Brennan, in USA Today, added: "As I stood in the gallery, I watched people clap and cheer for Woods, then turn their eyes to the sky and point and laugh at the sign.

"A word about how to interpret the reaction of fans: We probably shouldn't try. Tiger has been paying close attention to the reception he has been receiving and says he is heartened by it. But there's probably a more nuanced way to analyse the actions of spectators. We should come to the conclusion that many of them are there for the spectacle, and leave it at that."
The one aspect of Woods's performance that was universally criticised, however, was his new Nike commercial, in which a voice over of the golfer's late father is set over a black-and-white image of Woods staring into a camera. "[Woods] has complained about his family being dragged through this mess by the news media, when it's all his doing," added Brennan. "If it's a private, family matter and Tiger doesn't want to talk about it, which is his right, then why make an ad about it? Is it all about the money for Tiger and Nike? We probably already know the answer to that one."

The 78-year-old Oscar winner recently became engaged to Winters, 49, the co-founder of Sterling Winters Management. His clients include Janet Jackson.
Taylor and Winters have not personally confirmed this, but here's the report.Says an insider: "It's no secret they've been together and are in love, so it wouldn't be a surprise if they were engaged. Right now they are keeping it between them."

In 2007, British papers reported that Taylor and Winters took a romantic vacation at a Hawaiian resort. Taylor spent "the evening caressing the face of [Winters]."

At the time, the paper quoted a source as saying of the legend: "She didn't think she'd fall in love again, but since Jason came into her life that has all changed."

After the third week's scores were tallied by the judges on Dancing with the Stars,

it was clear that a lower tier was established, and either Kate Gosselin or Buzz Aldrin had to go.

Of course, that was true the week before, and Shannen Doherty somehow got the fewest votes, so all bets were off. Last night, though, Kate and Buzz were in the bottom three.

Ultimately, the 80-year-old astronaut who was sent home, and left the stage beaming at having gone through the experience at all. Talk about a class act we could all learn from.
“I did this show for the fighter pilots, the military, the older geezers like me,” said Buzz who received a standing ovation from the audience. “I thank everyone who voted for me.” Buzz's elimination means, of course, that the flat-out awful Kate Gosselin will dance on, and thus continue to be a huge ratings draw for ABC at least for another week.
The show hs earned over 20 million viewers each week, even claiming the #1 ratings spot.
Which isn't too surprising, as people tuning in to watch a particular person either love them or love wanting them to fail. Either way, they're tuning in to watch. Point, ABC!
Joining Kate and Buzz in the bottom group were Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower, who actually received the second-fewest votes Monday. Better step it up, Bachelor.
The favorites? Still Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya. Also in the running: Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, along with Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough.

I don't know about you, but I've come to love Niecy Nash. She seems like someone who would be fun to know, but Monday night, she and her professional partner, Louis Van Amstel, go serious and we saw a softer more somber side of Nash. Their story was about an interracial love story at a time when it was forbidden (and that wasn't so long ago) as they danced the waltz to "With You I'm Born Again" by Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright.

Nash seemed a bit unsure of herself and there were a few stumbles.

The Strokes, Arcade Fire, and Green Day are only a few of the artists set to play at this year’s forthcoming Lollapalooza Festival.

Organizers for the three-day bash have released the full line-up for the festival which will include performances by Soundgarden, MGMT, and Grizzly Bear.

Also set to appear at the event, which is set to take place at Chicago’s Grant Park from August 6-8, will be Spoon, the Black Keys, and the Morning Benders.
Early-bird tickets are sold out but regular three-day passes will only run you $215 and are on sale now.

Come Together version of the song appears on the concert album Live in New York City.TAINAN, Taiwan—Ms. Huang, originally from Guangdong in China, recently married a Taiwanese, and together they attended the Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company’s show in Tainan on April 4.
It was her first time to watch the show.
“It was really very touching. I was told that Shen Yun was spectacular, but seeing is believing. Only after seeing it in person could I really know how wonderful it is. It’s beyond words,” she said, teary-eyed.
What moved her most was the compassion implied in the lyrics of the songs performed by the solo artists. The words made her question the meaning of life. “I began to feel that there’s no need for human beings to haggle over trivial things.”
She said that she had been deceived by the mainland Chinese media coverage of Falun Gong and had misunderstood it. But after seeing the Shen Yun show, her view of Falun Gong was completely changed, depicted in two dances, Astouding Conviction and Nothing Can Block the Divine Path.
“Now I finally come to know that Falun Gong practitioners are so compassionate. To display the banner reading “Falun Dafa Is Good,” they showed their strong conviction. What man does, Heaven sees, Buddhas and Gods will protect them.”
And seeing a mother and daughter torn apart and the mother beaten to death, in the heart-wrenching program Nothing Can Block The Divine Path brought her to tears.
On a lighter note, Ms. Huang noted her admiration of the dance In a Miao Village. “[It] was full of national characteristics, and the dancers’ level was very high. They would have trained rigorously for years, so that they were able to make such an outstanding performance. It is obvious that they were dancing with their hearts. I think that they have reached the level of selflessness,” she added.
In addition, Ms. Huang especially praised the dance Handkerchiefs. She said, “It was just amazing that the dancers tossed the swirling handkerchiefs so high in the air and then captured them so timely. Their techniques are indeed incredible.”
Moved by the connotation of filial piety in Splitting the Mountain, she said, “It was really very touching that such a little boy would know the quality of filial piety, and wanted to rescue his mother.”
Ms. Huang expressed that Shen Yun has successfully illustrated the 5,000-year Chinese traditional culture, and the compassionate messages it conveyed has made people become more kind-hearted unconsciously. She also admitted that after watching Shen Yun she, herself, was feeling more kind-hearted and more compassionate.
She concluded that Shen Yun should perform in mainland China, to let Chinese people know that Falun Gong is good, and she would definitely be passing that message on to her friends in China.

The Biggest Loser Couples Season 9: Racing for Immunity

The “Biggest Loser” couples met Alison in the gym. Contestants watched as Alison pressed a red button and an alarm that sounded like a tornado siren blared

throughout the ranch. Once the alarm stopped, a wall opened to reveal a scale. Alison told the contestants the first one of them to lose 2 percent of their body

weight would win immunity. She handed each of them a card with the amount of weight they needed to lose. They were allowed to weigh in whenever they wanted, but they would only get one chance, and they’d have to be the first to lose their body weight, because as soon as someone weighed in and lost his or her body weight, they’d win immunity and the challenge would be over for everyone. All the contestants had to do was go to the gym and press the red button to let their competitors know they were ready to weigh-in.Soon after Alison left the gym, Jillian and Bob entered. The couples explained the challenge, and then training with Bob and Jillian began. As the others worked out, Jillian felt it was time to workout with Sunshine. While the two worked out, Jillian told Sunshine if she stayed focused, she could win this season’s “Biggest Loser”.
Dr. H joined the “Biggest Loser” couples in he living room to share tips on exercise and healthy eating. Moments after Dr. H’s brief advice, the couples discussed the weigh-in challenge. Some wondered when would be the best time to weigh in, and others tried to guess who’d weigh in first.The alarm sounded, and everyone made his or her way to the gym to see who pushed the button so early. Once the contestants discovered it was Vicky, Vicky stepped on the scale to see if she lost the 6 pounds she needed to win. Unfortunately, she only lost 3 pounds, so immunity was still up for grabs.The “Biggest Loser” couples gathered at the pool for another challenge. The winner of this challenge would get a trip for two to the “Biggest Loser” resort, and the contestant who came in last, would have a 1-pound disadvantage at the weigh-in.
Alison instructed the contestants to swim toward the middle of the pool. Once there, they could gather a maximum of two one-pound weights, which they had to swim back with and place in their bin. The first contestant to collect 100 weights would win the challenge, and as soon as the contestants collected all their weights, they’d be free to help the other contestants.
From the beginning of the challenge, Sunshine and Sam stayed neck and neck, but when Sunshine noticed that her dad was in last place, she picked up her pace so she could finish and help her dad. Because Sunshine increased her speed, she won the challenge, but she didn’t take a break from swimming. Instead, she headed back to the center of the pool to assist her dad. Everyone but Mike, Melissa and O’Neal had finished the challenge. At this point, Melissa’s past “game play” came back to bite her in the butt, because the couples who finished the challenge chose to help O’Neal and Mike complete the challenge. Not a single contestant offered to help Melissa, and this caused Melissa to finish last and have to deal with the 1-pound penalty at the weigh-in.
Late Night Workout
While everyone else slept, Sam and Koli took advantage of the empty gym. They were determined to win the Biggest Loser’s first ever weigh-in challenge, and they didn’t want Melissa to win immunity.
As soon as Sam and Koli completed their late night workout and left the gym, Melissa made her way into the gym for her own late night workout session. With everyone against her, she knew she needed to win the weigh-in challenge, and this was her opportunity to burn some extra calories.
The next morning Sam pushed the red button. Soon after the others were in the gym, Sam weighed in and surprised everyone when the scale revealed the he’d lost 10 pounds (3.82 percent). Not only did Sam win immunity, but he lost more than the 6 pounds he needed to lose.
Later, Bob and Jillian visited the “Biggest Loser” couples. The couples filled the trainers in on Sam winning the weigh-in challenge. Then the contestants told Bob and Jillian about the pool challenge. Bob asked Melissa how she finished last, and she told Bob and Jillian that no one offered to help her. Although Bob and Jillian felt O’Neal and Mike were more of a threat than Melissa was, they understood why no one came to her aide.itors know they were ready to weigh-in.
